This Rocker Loves Metal Detecting!

Posted by on May 23, 2016

Musician Mike Gentry is one of many famous people who enjoy treasure hunting on the side. He recently explained his love of the hobby to Heather Robinson of Knox News. As a detectorist, he has his heart set on finding relics. He said to Knox News, “I’ve always been interested in history, so actually seeking it out and digging items out of the ground caught my attention quickly. I can remember climbing hills through rough woods with Dad in the middle of summer; looking back on it, he was crazy.” He feels great because to him, it is like carrying on a tradition.

On his finds, he explained to Robinson that he’s discovered a lot of bullets, artillery shells, old coins and military uniforms! As far as his favorite finds go, he loves the two Peter Kern Co. tokens that he stumbled upon. His oldest find is a flat button that was manufactured between 1840 and 1850. He, like other detectorists acknowledges the persistence that comes with the hobby. He said in the article, “You can’t find the good stuff unless you sort through the junk.” He is also a guitarist in The Bad Dudes, the drummer in La Basura Del Diablo and the bassist in Brandon Harmon and the Halfway Hearts! He also has a family with two children. He believes having a great quality metal detector is key. He used a Garrett AT Pro and a Teknetics T2. Read more on this by clicking source below.
