Geocaching: The New Age Scavenger Hunt
As we mention before, Geocaching is a decade old hobby now that has many people using GPS technology to hunt down the coordinates of the cache find. This technology has provided many people a new hobby that well relates to Metal Detectoring.
In some cases metal detectors are even used to the “treasure” called the cache. Players of this fun hobby get these coordinates from The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site online, and once they have read clues and coordinates for a certain cache location in their area, they go out and seek the prize.

From coins to even dollar bills found, it is the finder’s duty to replace the cache location with another prize so that the cycle keeps going on and leaves the fun for others as well! If you are not experienced or familiar to the hobby, then I suggest looking for a local geocaching class that are offered almost in every state. It can be a great experience Geocaching with your family as well as a fun way to spend your weekend.

As a family, we love GeoCaching! It’s a great way to get outdoors, work on observational skills and just plain have a lot of fun. My 6YO son has recently shown an interest in Metal Detectoring and I can’t wait to get the both of us started. Because, let’s face it, there’s just no such thing as too much Treasure Hunting!!
