Pirate Washes Ashore with Treasure
Karma is nothing to joke about and this is proof as to why (in my opinion anyway)…
Five Somalian pirates reportedly drowned on Friday when their small boat capsized in rough seas off of the coast of Somalia. They had just received a ransom payment of $3million U.S. dollars for releasing a captive Saudi Oil tanker and so far one of the pirates has washed ashore with $153,000 cash in his pockets.
Three of the pirates in the small boat survived the capsizing, but lost their share of the money. One Pirate is still missing, along with his share of the ransom.
Experts say that this is unlikely to deter future attacks. “The loss or potential loss of the ransom means the next pirates will be all the more keen to get the next ransom in. There are people lining up to be pirates.”
The ransom was for The Sirius Star, captured by pirate’s last November enroute from Saudi Arabia to the United States. It is believed to be the largest ship ever captured by pirates.
As for the pirate business… the Somalian coastline is a haven for pirates who attacked 111 ships in the Gulf of Aden during 2007 alone.
Again, karma is real in my opinion. It’s a shame a life had to be lost, but hopefully this WILL deter others from opting for this way of life.
